About Arnold Bennett
Arnold Bennett (May 27, 1867 - March 27, 1931) was an English novelist, playwright and journalist, the most financially successful British author of his day. Between the 1890s and the 1930s he wrote 34 novels, many plays and short stories and a journal of more than a million words; his best-known novels, such as "Anna of the Five Towns", "The Old Wives' Tale" and the "Clayhanger" trilogy, are set in the pottery towns of Staffordshire where he grew up.
Bennett also wrote popular self-improvement books, among them "How to Live on 24 Hours a Day". The pualib library holds "Mental Efficiency and Other Hints to Men and Women" (1911), a light-hearted but thoughtful collection of essays on exercising the mind, organizing one's life, marriage, books and happiness. His works are in the public domain.
