Adam Cash, PsyD, is an American clinical psychologist and the author of Psychology For Dummies, one of the best known plain-language introductions to psychology, published by Wiley in the popular For Dummies series.

Psychology For Dummies first appeared in 2002 and has since been revised twice: a second edition came out in 2013 and a third edition in 2020, also released as an audiobook. In a friendly, jargon-free style the book walks the reader through the major schools of thought in psychology and how they differ, the basics of how people perceive, think, feel and relate to one another, abnormal and forensic psychology, emotional and psychological problems, and the different kinds of psychotherapy. It has been widely used by students, teachers, counselors and general readers who want to understand why people think, feel and behave the way they do.

Dr. Cash has taught psychology at both community college and university level, including as an adjunct professor at Chapman University. For years he worked as a forensic psychologist with mentally disordered criminal offenders, and he has had a private practice in Southern California specializing in chronic mental illness, stress and coping, and men's issues.

He later became Clinical Director of Specialized Psychology Solutions in Palm Springs, California, a child psychology clinic that works with behavior, learning and developmental problems and autism spectrum disorders. The clinic offers assessment and play-based, family-centered ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis) therapy following the Pivotal Response Treatment model, delivered by a team of more than twenty paraprofessional providers. Dr. Cash is licensed as a psychologist in the state of California.

For readers interested in attraction, dating and relationships, Psychology For Dummies is a useful foundation: it explains in scientific terms how people think, feel and relate to each other, the very things that seduction and dating authors talk about in practical terms.
