Woman Riding In Bed Of Pickup Truck Injured In Rollover Wellsburg Accident | |||
April 7, 2011 - Wellsburg, W.Va. - Two people were sent to the hospital Wednesday after a pick-up truck overturned in Brooke County. "WBOY "reports that the rollover accident occurred at about 1:20 p.m. Wednesday on Pot Rock Road in Wellsburg. According to officials, the truck was driving northbound on the roadway when the driver lost control. In an attempt to regain control of the vehicle the driver overcorrected the steering wheel. The truck then overturned. The driver of the truck and a female passenger, who was riding in the bed of the truck, were thrown from the vehicle during the crash. The driver was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident. Both the driver and the female passenger had to be flown to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburg. The extent of their injuries is unknown. The third passenger in the truck, a man who was wearing his seat belt, turned down treatment on the scene. The cause of the rollover Wellsburg accident remains to be determined. The crash is under ongoing investigation by the Brooke County Sheriff's Department.
